Only a few months after the creation of the “Food For Everyone Fund,” we are delighted to announce that the first grant of $1,500 has been granted to the Fibromyalgia Wellspring Foundation.

This newly established fund increases food security in Surrey and reduces hunger. The Fibromyalgia Wellspring Foundation was established to create public awareness about the chronic disorder and plans to put the funding towards food hampers for their clients.

“We are very pleased to provide a grant from the Food For Everyone Fund only a few months after its creation. As inflation continues to take its toll on everyone, there is a great need for these food hampers provided by Fibromyalgia Wellspring Foundation,” Cheryl Young, Executive Director, Fibromyalgia Wellspring Foundation.

This year grant requests from organizations requesting food security programming have significantly increased. Therefore, the hope is that this fund will bring the Surrey community together to provide much-needed support for community members in need of food security. This is already being achieved through this first grant to the Fibromyalgia Wellspring Foundation.

“I wanted to start a food security-focused fund because nobody should go to bed hungry. Therefore, this fund was created to support community kitchens and gardens and other low-barrier programming that helps to ensure that the fund goal is met,” says KD Khairah, Founder of LMON, the Food For Everyone Fund and a SurreyCares Community Foundation Community Cabinet member.
